Claudia Gerauer – Germany

Musician

I am Claudia Gerauer. I’m from Germany, Passau, a city that is in the southeast of Bavaria. I’m a musician, and my instrument is the recorder. I am specializing in so-called “early music”, which is music from the Baroque, Renaissance, and Medieval eras.

The most fascinating kind of thing for me in doing this kind of music is not to create something, but to interpret. So what I have to do is to learn and study the grammar of this kind of language, music. So the most interesting thing for me is to study this grammar and be able to understand what the music says. What most satisfies and what makes me most happy is the experience on the way to find out what the music says and to learn its grammar.
