My name is Heide Fasnacht. I am a New York City sculptor and most of the work that I have been doing for the past couple of years has involved depicting ephemeral phenomena like geysers, forest fires, explosions and building demolitions. And much to my surprise about six months after I finished that body of work, the World Trade Centers, two blocks away from where I live, were bombed.I had already stopped doing that body of work.

I had started doing work that was oddly celebratory and soothing. Drops of water, exploding champagne bottles, and ticker tape. So my deepest hope is that that work is as prescient as my previous body of work.

Heide Fasnacht.  Sculptor. Born: Ohio. Lives: New York City, New York, U.S.A.  B.F.A., RISD; M.A., NYU.  Ms. Fasnacht has received numerous awards including a Pollock-Krasner Fellowship, NEA Sculpture Fellowship, and an Edward Albee Foundation Grant.  Collections include The Brooklyn Museum, Dallas Museum, Philadelphia Museum, and Fogg Art Museum.
